Hello,
I've just spend about an hour trying to figure out why the CS6 Exchange Panel appears broken after a fresh install. I finally discovered on Twitter, of all places, that this product is now discontinued. I hope that all the documentation on this product which turns up readily in a search will be updated soon, as it is still directing users to download and use this extension, while the extension itself is in a confusing partially-functional state which gives no clear indication it is discontinued.
[I would have liked to post this information for others to find in this old thread (" "), because the symptoms there describe the current behavior of the Exchange Panel for me; but I'm not able to add a reply to that thread.]
Anyway, this still leaves me with a question: what is now the appropriate way to deploy CS6 .zxp extensions? I am trying to deploy the free CS6 PS extension The Animator's Toolbar to some internal users. I understand these can be installed via the Adobe Extensions Manager after downloading from the new creative.adobe.com/addons site, but when I attempt to do so I am required to sign in with an Adobe ID. This is a problem because we have an enterprise deployment of CS6, where end users and support staff do not have individual Adobe IDs which are linked to our Creative Suite licenses. I can sign in with my Adobe ID, but get "The extension cannot be installed because licensing verification failed for user [****@****.***]"
From reading older support threads here it seems there was previously a way to install free extensions such as this without running into this restriction. Am I missing some step here? If I have the .zxp file for this extension which has no licensing restrictions tied to it, why do I need to sign in with an Adobe ID?
