RemoveVolumeSerial.exe not able to deactivate a License.

I am using Creative Cloud Packager for education to deploy Adobe apps. I used the Create License Package to get the serialization executable as well as the RemoveVolumeSerial.exe.

I install one of the Adobe apps on a PC. Once I have it installed I can see the device is with activated license through my web management interface. I then copy the license folder, which I previously created through Creative Cloud Packager --> Create License Package. I then run the RemoveVolumeSerial.exe as an admin and wait about 5 min.

The device is still with an active license. I checked the log file AdobeSerialization.log in C:\Users\Current user\AppDaqta\Local\Temp and here is the output:

Hi, and thanks for your reply

I did try your method, but it didn't work. Still getting the trial window with expiration.

Sometimes there can be a problem if you are signing in with an Adobe ID on the same machine, as any entitlement attached to the Adobe ID can be picked up instead of the device license.  For this reason we usually recommend not to include the Creative Cloud Desktop Application as this asks for a sign-in.

To remove existing licenses you can do the following.

Sign out of the Creative Cloud desktop application, and quit the application completely using the instructions here.

Remove the contents present inside the SLCache, SLStore, and OOBE folders.

SLCache

    Windows 64 bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

    Windows 32 bit - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache\

    Mac - /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/SLCache

SLStore

    Windows - C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

    Mac - /Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/SLStore/

OOBE

    Windows -  C:\Users\<user folder>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE

    Mac - /Users/<user folder>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE

Relaunch Creative Cloud application and sign back in to it.

You would then need to re-apply the device license. See the section on migrating licenses in this document Creative Adobe Creative Cloud license package

Hi, You should remove the license via the console.

Manage your Adobe Creative Cloud for education device licenses

Deactivate a device license

Deactivating a license prevents access to a product deployment pool on a specific device.

All are listed under Device Licenses in the left navigation bar. Choose the specific deployment pool to begin the deactivation process.

To deactivate a license, click Deactivate next to the specific device. A pop-up menu appears to confirm deactivation.

After deactivating a license from a device, it appears as an available license in the product deployment pool and can be activated on another device. When the next unlicensed device launches an app from that deployment pool, the available license is used.

Hi,

Yes, that looks like the appropriate process. The first step is to open a ticket with customer care, who will be able to assist.

Thanks for support!

It did work, even if I have deleted all Adobe related folders, and files, in /Library/Caches and /Library/Preferences ...

Thank you for your response. I know how to use the console and I have been using it to deactivate devices, however I also need the RemoveVolumeSerial.exe to work.

I need it is because we have 3 VIP licenses, each one of them corresponding to a different region - Northern, Central and Southern.

When I package an app using the Creative Cloud Packager I use one of the regions for example Northern. I then take that package and repackage it with a third party software QSetup. In the repackaging process with QSetup I have a dialog box in which the user can select the region they are in. According to that selection, if say they chose the Southern region, I use the RemoveVolumeSerial.exe to remove the device/license from the Northern region- VIP (this is necessary because the package was originally licensed through CCP for Northern region ), and then I use the AdobeSerialization.exe for Southern region - VIP to re-license it. This makes the whole process automated and I don't have to use the console to deactivate a device after an installation.

At the moment because the RemoveVolumeSerial.exe isn't working, the devices get registered in two regions the Northern and depending on their selection either Central or Southern. Then I have to go and manually deactivate the device from one of the regions.

I can create a separate package for each one of the regions and that is fine and dandy if I am to do it once and forget about it. However we need to make changes and update the packages so it isn't very efficient. Instead of creating 15 packages for one of the regions and have them re-licensed, I now have to package 45 different apps because I am not able to use RemoveVolumeSerial.exe.

The RemoveVolumeSerial.exe use to work up until several months ago, what happened to it. Is there another way I can re-license?

Thank you,

A flaw in Adobe's Network Endpoint list for secure networks

$

We need to have a secure network in order to comply with film studio's security requirements to work on their films.  We are trying to open holes in the firewall so that our editors can sign the Creative Cloud app for Syncing settings and such.

Exploring the net it seems since Adobe moved to AWS I guess this has been an issue.

An adobe support rep sent me this saying to whitelist this giant list for non-browser services:

https://helpx.adobe.com/in/enterprise/kb/network-endpoints.html

Which is helpful, but Adobe's engineering guys have overlooked a very key issue that a firewall cannot whitelist a wildcard FQDN (ie *.adobesc.com).  It needs specific FQDN’s to resolve to IPs.

This will never work properly in it's current state and the solution that Adobe's support guys are trying to sell will always be a fail.  Assuming they don't want that.  Other studio IT guys seem to be complaining about this as well.

Would love a work around Adobe?!

what's your os version? if it's qualifying, (eg, 10.10 or better):

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 3 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials

How to use Channel IDs with Rum?

How do I use Channel IDs to update using RUM?

We are currently on CC 2014 but if I wanted to specify only to update InDesign CC 2014 on that particular computer will this work?

sudo RemoteUpdateManager --channelIds='CC (2014)--10.0--osx10--AdobeInDesignCC2014-10.0'

The channel IDs listed for CC products on this page has space between CC and (2014) so I wasn't sure if CC was part the channel ID.

Hi douglasb73297568 ,

I really apologize about the troubles you have had with CCP.

It entirely depends on your bandwidth, how fast the download completes.

I have build multiple package at my home computer and it takes somewhere about 7-8 minutes to build a package with three apps, PS Bridge and LR

Hi dailypenn

When i say purchased, i mean acquired, doesn't matter if the Add on is free or purchased.

As far as the installation and other questions, i suppose you can try ExManCmd and give uit a shot.
